OmegaBoy #Tessellation

Below is the original OmegaBoy sketch, drawn four and a half years ago already. Since I found the KaleidoPaint app, I’ve come up with about one nested shape a week, that’s over 250 tessellations, fully interlocking designs. It must be an obsession! Still much to learn. Never stop learning.

I finally took the time to redraw OmegaBoy in his final form.  The original sketch, way before KaleidoPaint allowed any line editing showed potential for a good nested shape. The more recent versions of KaleidoPaint let you streamline your designs with ease; line and fill editing is possible. Thanks Jeff!

P31m is the symmetry system used here, 3 identical 3-way rotation points, at the top of the head, delineate an equilateral triangle, and its center has the one instance of the other 3-way rotation point, where the hands meet. The character’s body has equilateral symmetry through the mirrors. The omega letter was simply taken for the character as it has a nice shape and mirror symmetry, it has none of the connotations of being last letter in the Greek alphabet.
