Quite similar to one tessellation I did a few weeks ago. The Three Dogs tessellation. But this one is based on a six way rotation, group P6 rather than P3. If you have a look at both, the tails swirl around into a spiral, the Dash Hounds using 6 instances of tails, the originals using three tails. Continue reading
My garden beds wander all over the place. My hair flies as it wishes, always has. My tessellations don’t follow established “rules”, I cheat with shared space (although I find that cool still), and hidden or overlaps in spaces. Why would I even think I could draw IGDs, Islamic Geometric Designs. Way too structured and rigid for me. But oh so cool, with millions of different permutations, colours, styles. Still. I like geometry. This one reminds me of the Magenta Mayhem tessellation I did a while back.Continue reading
Having a heck of a time deciding on what to call this tessellation. Redhead. Pearl J. Bailey. Crimson Cutie. Reclining Doudette. Reeboks. MJDSV. The little black dress. Continue reading

Hiking in the Rockies and hiking in the Alps you meet some fine people. Good people, some chatty, some preoccupied. What struck me the most in Austria was the greeting they used. “Grüß Gott!”. Continue reading
You see? This is where my hands naturally fall in place. Right here. These jacket designers went and put the pockets way back there, as if I’m a gunslinger reaching for my Colts. Continue reading
It is difficult to tell the difference between a raven and a crow. Un corbeau ou une corneille. Corvus corax & corvus brachyrhynchos, corvus caurinus on the Island here. Or the white ravens in Qualicum Beach!
- A raven is bigger than a crow. Maybe 25% bigger?
- A raven has a ruffled throat, wicked haidoo, and stronger thicker beak than a crow… Continue reading
The canines reluctantly agreed to pose, for a fee, with the product they were modelling for. Continue reading
If we look at what M.C. Escher used as topics for his tessellations, and do a quick search around the planetary neighbourhood… there is definitely an evolution and expansion that has occurred since his lifetime. Escher used to incorporate birds and fishes, reptiles, Continue reading
A fantasy creature I sketched a few years ago. Refined it recently. All is not as it seems at first glance. Continue reading
